Bulgari Brings Serpenti to New York's High Line

A golden installation on the High Line, five unique High Jewelry creations and three new Tubogas pieces: Bulgari lets its serpent emblem meet the city.

Some emblems sit quietly on a clasp. Others ask for space. With the newest chapter of Serpenti Infinito, Bulgari has chosen the second path: in New York, the serpent emblem of the Roman house now rises from the ground on the High Line, golden, monumental and impossible to overlook.

A serpent shaped by the city

The installation carries the title auruBOROS: Urban Memory and Collective Dream. It is the work of Plastique Fantastique, a collective based in Berlin, and its golden forms grow out of the ground until they become part of the urban landscape. Serpenti Infinito is the project in which the Maison explores the many ways its emblem can be transformed. After Shanghai, Seoul and Mumbai, New York is the next stop.

This edition reads its surroundings closely. The installation is shaped by the city around it: its shifting volumes and proportions evoke the unseen movements of New York, and the work deliberately blurs the boundary between architecture and landscape. Rather than standing apart on a plinth, it becomes part of the cityscape.

Five unique pieces, five chapters of American art

The installation is only half of the story. For the occasion, Bulgari unveiled five unique High Jewelry creations. Each draws on a different chapter of American art history, and each offers its own interpretation of Serpenti. Two of them stand out in the description of the house. Serpenti Falling Drops evokes the expressive gestures of Jackson Pollock, with a coloured gemstone that seems to be caught in mid-motion. Serpenti Flag borrows its colours from the American flag and pairs tanzanite, coral and diamonds.

Unique pieces of this kind are less about a season than about a moment. They record where and how a house decided to tell its story, and in this case the story is told in the language of the city that hosts it.

New members of the Tubogas family

Beyond the one-offs, the New York chapter brings three new additions to Serpenti Tubogas, one of the signatures of Bulgari: a bracelet, earrings and a brooch, each giving the collection a contemporary perspective. A minaudière completes the group. It revisits the distinctive codes of Serpenti and echoes several historic designs from the Maison.

Rome, seen from Manhattan

For all its American references, the chapter does not lose sight of where the emblem comes from. In New York, Serpenti takes its cue from the heritage and architecture of the city while remaining deeply connected to the Roman heritage of the Maison. From the High Line to High Jewelry, the message is consistent: Serpenti is not a single design but a form that can keep changing without losing its identity.

For anyone who follows the great jewellery houses, that is the real point of interest. The same motif appears as public art, as one-off High Jewelry and as part of a collection, and all three versions tell one story.
