Dior Summer 2027: Jonathan Anderson Turns Air Into a Material
Mist over a tree-lined basin, transparent silk and a minaudière shaped like a walnut: the Dior Summer 2027 women's collection by Jonathan Anderson is a study in lightness.

Some shows announce themselves with volume. The Summer 2027 women's show of Dior chose the opposite. Presented across a tree-lined basin, the new collection by Jonathan Anderson draws its inspiration from nature, and mist lent the movement a sense of breath. Transparency and floral shapes run through clothes and accessories alike, and the summer silhouettes carry an airy sensibility.

Lightness as a craft
Lightness sounds simple, but at Dior it is a matter of technique. The ateliers of the house explore new facets of it in this collection. The tailleur is imagined as flou, and air is treated almost as a material in its own right, an inherent part of lace, silk mousseline and organza. Stripes give way to pleats, and opacity slides into transparency.
What that means for the wardrobe is easy to picture: structured pieces that lose their weight without losing their line, and fabrics that let the light, and the body, show through.

A dialogue with the house
The collection keeps up a constant conversation with the heritage of Dior. Flower-like shapes and iridescence pick up elements of the Autumn Winter 2026-2027 collection. Sheer suiting and metallic trousers echo the Summer 2027 men's collection. And the essence of pieces from the archive returns in new forms, so that the season reads as a continuation rather than a break.
What the looks reveal
The images from the runway make these ideas tangible. Look 1 sets the tone with a striped double-breasted jacket worn over a short cream skirt. Look 3 combines a pale yellow jacket with frayed, fringed edges, a ruffled scarf and a plaid mini skirt. In look 9, a striped shirt with a draped scarf meets a flowing skirt in a blue print, and look 47 is a pale green dress, pleated and sheer, worn with long necklaces. Taken together, they show how stripes, pleats and transparency travel from one silhouette to the next.
Accessories with a twist
Much of the character of this show lies in the details. Scarves draped over the shoulder and cascading earrings introduce asymmetry. Shoes are brightened with floral motifs, and the distinctive sole of the Dior Cigale shoe is shaped like a petal.
Among the bags, new versions of the Dior Double and the Dior Initial Hobo appear in supple leather. They are joined by a biker-inspired bag with zipped pocket flaps and cannage stitching. Mesh bags take a playful turn, customised with fringed silk scarves or with clusters of sheer georgette petals.

The walnut minaudière
The most poetic object of the season is small enough to hold in one hand. A silver-finish minaudière takes the form of a wénwán walnut, a nod to the Chinese tradition of rolling dried walnuts by hand until they develop a natural patina. A pair of these walnuts was sent out with the show invitations, a gesture that underlines how much the beauty of nature contributes to the savoir-faire of Dior.
